An unidentified Utah student has died in his Utah dorm room, the university said Tuesday.
University spokeswoman Amanda Prentice said in a statement the university is “deeply saddened by this tragic event” and “in the midst of our investigation, we have not identified any suspects.”
University President Larry Wilcox said in the statement that “the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority.
Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the deceased, and to the students and faculty at UT-Austin, who are suffering in the wake of this tragedy.”
The Utah Division of Criminal Investigation and the U.S. Department of Education are investigating.
University spokesman Jeff Smith said the university has been in communication with the university’s chief medical officer.
“We have no additional information to share at this time,” he said.
The death was the third at Utah’s flagship campus in less than two years.
Last year, a student at the University of Arizona died in her dorm room after she fell and broke her ankle, and a student was found dead on campus in March.
