The University and its sister institutions at the University College of Sydney and the Australian National University were ranked 11 and 12 respectively.
The rankings were based on a review of all of the universities in each country, including the top 20 performing in each category.
The list was compiled by a team of academics who were asked to compile the best schools and universities in their own country.
The universities in Australia have also been ranked for their research output, student retention and student outcomes.
They include universities such as the University Of Sydney, Queensland University Of Technology, the School of Oriental and African Studies, the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Surgeons and the Murdoch University in Australia.
“It’s a very comprehensive list and it covers all the universities that are in the U.K. and in Australia,” Mr Salsberg said.
“We do a lot of research and there are a lot more universities in those countries than there are in Australia.”
