Oklahoma State University professor Jennifer Smith said it would take “an act of God” for her to see her own family’s health deteriorate in the future.
Smith is one of several faculty members who penned an open letter last week calling on Baylor to “do what it takes to improve your health” and address the growing concern among students and alumni about its safety.
The letter was signed by other members of the faculty and others who have criticized Baylor’s safety practices.
In the letter, published by The Oklahoman, Smith said she believes Baylor is “not doing enough to protect its staff and students from harm and injury.”
She said she hopes that Baylor will take steps to improve safety at the school, including hiring an independent monitor and developing an annual safety audit that includes information about the number of assaults on staff and how many students are injured.
